Dear Sis,
If I had known what was really happening, I would have talked to you more. I have so much I want to share with you - like my struggle with starting an indie games startup, my various school game projects, my views on "Evangelion" (even if we've already briefly discussed the series). But it's a little too late now, because I'm an idiot.
About a few years ago I started to find you a tinny bit more distant. At first I thought it was because of my ill-expressed remark on your Facebook page that led to a mildly heated exchange with your peers. Then I assumed you were just building some distance between yourself and the rest of us (the gang) in order to be considerate towards Adrian. I never thought to ask. I thought I should respect that "distance". I'm sorry, I should have talked to you and understood the situation. I guess a part of me was afraid you were angry at me for causing that commotion on FB. But of course, you weren't. If only I had asked, I would probably have a better understanding of what was really happening.
If HY hadn't invited you to our little whatapp group just a few months back, I'll probably never get to have a proper conversation with you. I'm grateful to have chatted with you about your work, about Evangelion, and about how I shouldn't prioritize career over finding my other half. But if I had known that would be the last few times we get to talk, I'd have shared a lot more of my experiences, or asked you more questions about... anything at all.
I guess I just want to say that I'm really happy to have been your god-bro; and, as your god-brother, love you dearly. There is nothing I wished more than for these words to reach you somehow.
Goodbye sis, I'll miss you dearly.
-Your brother.

Random Game Post 2
After a weekend away from Blue Giant (that's the name of our main project), my level generation algorithm is half-way complete (with the occasional help from jon). Unfortunately the rooms are currently all represented as integers in a buffer, so no gameplay implications just yet!
(As shown on the top-left corner of the screen, '#'-room, '_'-empty space)

Random Game Post
Hi hi, I've make it a point to work on (or at very least, think about) experimental, short games after working hours. Below is a screenshot of a game that's about 1% done (lol). I'm sticking close to the aesthetics of Day X - the pixelated style of the sprites means I'll have an easier time animating them. I've also been considering following cs' style for drawing the backgrounds, but I think I'll choose something more abstract and possibly less time consuming.
A key objective of this project is to understand how to develop a roguelike game, seeing as how vic has been going on about her "survival" game idea that is about as roguelike as it gets (well, maybe without permanent death). I hope I can finish this project in due time >.<.
In the mean time, the bunch of us are going to resume work on our main project. ciao~

It was brought to my attention (by cs) that Day X was featured on the Free Indie games blog! Awesome!

Global Game Jam
I attended my first ever global game jam with my team last Friday in the local site at Republic Polytechnic. Boy, was it fun! Drawing inspiration from Terry Cavanagh's "Don't Look Back", we built a game about a man plagued with guilt and self-hatred as he goes about his everyday life. The game was built in 48 hours by 3 of us, namely, jon, cs, and myself. After a good amount of brainstorming, each of us set out with our respective tasks. jon does the sounds, music as well as coding them into the game. cs handles the bulk of the artwork and design. As for myself, I'm responsible for the animations and game code. This was a far more ambitious jam compared to one-sec, so I'm inclined to think that we're improving as aspiring game makers ;). That, and the addition of one more member (one-sec was done by only jon and myself, and the first day of the jam was spent learning a new language - Haxe) makes a big difference.
The game is titled Day X, and can be played on our gamejolt page here.
Also, Day X got a mention on indiestatik's coverage of the game jam!
